Get ready for an adrenaline-fueled comeback! The highly anticipated Sun Life Stanley Dragon Boat Championships 2023 are back after a four-year hiatus.
After a four-year break, Hong Kong is preparing for the highly anticipated return of the Sun Life Stanley International Dragon Boat Championships 2023. The event, sponsored by Sun Life Hong Kong Limited, will be held on June 22, 2023, coinciding with Dragon Boat Festival (Tuen Ng Festival) at Stanley Main Beach. Over 168 teams, comprising more than 5,000 paddlers from Hong Kong and overseas, will participate in this year’s Championships.
Sun Life Hong Kong has been the title sponsor of the Championships for 15 consecutive years, starting from 2008. In collaboration with the Stanley Residents Association, this year’s event promises to be more than just a festival. It will offer a wide range of engaging and entertaining activities suitable for all age groups, completely free of charge. These activities include various playful games, face painting, a photo corner, and opportunities to win small gifts.
To promote sustainability and reduce waste, the event organisers will provide free water dispensers for participants to refill their own water bottles. Additionally, waste reduction measures will be implemented with the support of The Green Earth, a local NGO focused on environmental education. These initiatives aim to raise public awareness about the importance of waste reduction and recycling.
Kenneth Luk, the Chief Marketing Officer of Sun Life Hong Kong Limited, expressed his excitement for the long-awaited Championships and highlighted the values of endurance and teamwork associated with dragon boating.
