NWD partners with the City University of Hong Kong to gain momentum in achieving net zero carbon by 2050, aligning with the HKSAR Government’s green target.

New World Development Company Limited (NWD) has consistently been passionate in decelerating climate change by taking active measures in improving the climate resilience of the firm’s business operations and assets, ultimately in accomplishing net zero emissions. The firm is a major supporter of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and of Business Ambition for 1.5°C, a campaign proposed by the United Nations demanding business to set targets attempting to limit the global temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. NWD will be working in collaboration with the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) to achieve this target.

In order to accelerate their progress, NWD will be working with CityU’s School of Energy and Environment (SEE). The Faculty has agreed to co-develop with NWD net zero carbon related technologies – those associated with energy efficient design, renewable energy, building materials with low embodied carbon, waste management, emission trading, and health and wellness.

Together we will bring positive impacts to our society,” said Professor Chak K. Chan, Dean and Chair Professor of Atmospheric Environment of School of Energy and Environment at CityU.

NWD has also reaffirmed its pledge to the Sustainability Vision 2030‘s pillars of Green, Wellness, Smart and Caring with an objective to organise opportunities for a life well-lived and create share value for all stakeholders.
