Now in its tenth anniversary year, Clockenflap is bringing Hong Kong another weekend of music alongside cabaret performances, walking neon artwork, mobile DJ booths and, most importantly, Khalid.

In 2008, Clockenflap found its humble beginnings as a quaint event of 1,500 people in Hong Kong’s Cyberport. Despite modest appearances, the event had just become Hong Kong’s first music and art festival, and one that would grow into a world-renowned weekend that has boasted famous guests from ASAP Rocky and Franz Ferdinand, to Nile Rodgers, The Chemical Brothers, MIA, The Libertines and so many more. For those new to the event, the experience happens under the glittering lights of Hong Kong’s iconic harbourfront and across six stages, including the silent disco that Clockenflap pioneered in Hong Kong exactly a decade ago. As is tradition, the organisers have just begun releasing announcements of exciting names in this year’s lineup that will see a rush for tickets. Amongst them are the queen of neo-soul Erykah Badu, Khalid, Interpol, The Vaccines, Caribou, Cigarettes After Sex, and much, much more.

Against this all-day soundtrack, the festival also offers over thirty immersive experiences in contemporary art, fashion, food and craft markets. Travelling from one stage to the next will bring a taste of the otherworldly thanks to mystical inflatable gardens, colossal neon birds wandering around the promenade and a sky decorated with a kinetic light installation that responds to the music, created by Hong Kong’s very own Sky Lee and Yukata Yano.

Attracting guests from all of life’s nooks and crannies, Clockenflap has a little niche for everyone, whether this be the internationally acclaimed magician Ferdinand for excited teenie boppers and their parents, a unique marketplace established by the Parisian lifestyle magazine MILK or, for the more tranquil amongst us, a meditative sound at Red Studio’s gong bath tent. And then, of course, there’s food and drinks via some of the city’s best-known names; Beef and Liberty, Pizza Express, HK Yau Craft beer, to name a few.

It’s all come a long way from Cyberport’s family-sized festival all those years ago. So, pack your bags, bring your friends and get yourself on Ticketflap; we’ll see you next weekend in the inflatable garden!
