Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Affordable Art Fair returns to Hong Kong in 2023 unveiling a stunning lineup of curated artists and galleries.
Unveiling a treasure trove of affordable art, Affordable Art Fair is returning to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from the 18th to 21st of May, 2023. Celebrating 10 memorable years of curated accessible art, the Fair’s most exciting edition yet will be bringing together 93 local and international galleries showcasing both emerging and eminent talent.
Welcoming the resurgence of international travel, this unmissable event will feature galleries and artists from 15 countries, including 270 creative and bold new artists. Guests will be immersed in a bold showcase of experimentation and expressivity, highlighting cultural diversity and the limitless potential of contemporary art.
An extensive range of interactive art programmes and projects will be featured including Young Talent Hong Kong curated by HKwalls, spotlighting the passionate works of emerging local artists, and large-scale installations and art performances that pay homage to Hong Kong.
Emphasising Art Education at its core, the Fair will also be offering workshops and tours designed to foster and inspire young people to develop their interest in art.
“As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Affordable Art Fair in Hong Kong, it’s a special milestone for me personally. I first visited Asia in 1987 when I was just 18 years old and was struck by its incredible energy. It’s wonderful to see that energy is still alive today. Returning 20 years later to establish Affordable Art Fair was a tremendous opportunity, and it has been a privilege to play a part in the development of Hong Kong’s art scene. Starting with just 30 local galleries in 2007, it has truly been satisfying to see the fair grow and flourish, and I’m proud of the role we’ve played in making that happen,” shared Will Ramsay, the Founder of Affordable Art Fair.
This year’s Special Projects for Hong Kong’s 10th anniversary celebration will be spotlighting some of the city’s iconic cultures and spaces through unique large-scale installations. Designed to capture the essence of Hong Kong, these immersive installations will lead visitors to explore the city’s rich heritage.
The Fair will also be inviting 5 local and international artists to create artworks that vividly portray their perspective and interpretation of Hong Kong and reflect the vibrant energy and creativity of the city.
Continuing its commitment to providing opportunities for emerging artists to advance their careers and nurturing young talent, Affordable Art Fair will be presenting this year’s Young Talent Hong Kong, highlighting 9 up-and-coming artists who have participated in the HKwalls Youth Mentorship Programme.
These young artists will have the opportunity to display their work and connect with the public at the fair.
Aiming to further ignite a passion for the arts in younger generations, Affordable Art Fair has partnered with Art Loop to jointly organise a series of educational art tours and workshops in a special hour-long art immersion journey designed for children aged 4 to 12 years old.
Led by Art Loop’s skilled instructors, the workshop will guide children through gallery booths and curated projects at the fair, providing them with a unique opportunity to learn how to appreciate art and develop critical thinking skills.
To make the Fair more accessible to families participating in tours, STOKKE will be providing complimentary strollers.
