Cyberport and Google Hong Kong launch the “Igniting Startups & FinTechs Program” to support local startups and FinTech innovations.

Cyberport and Google Hong Kong have launched the “Igniting Startups & FinTechs Program” in support of the city’s vibrant startup and financial technology scene. Available to the Cyberport community, the programme offers Google Cloud credits, special discounts in the Google Maps Platform, and digital upskilling training and technical support.

Access will be given to all Cyberport community startups, from all stages, who will start off with US$2,000 of Google Cloud credits, and a further US$100,000 to US$500,000 of credits may also be allocated to eligible startups that are scaling. The additional special discounts available for the Google Maps Platform which will allow startups to improve their customer journey and operations through geospatial data and mapping tools. By supporting startups with infrastructure and computing capacity, the programme will allow them to focus on innovating and growing their business.

Use of such proven technologies enables startups to shorten the time-to-market of their products and services, so that they can focus on their core business. Today, we are glad to have Google, a member of our Cyberport Technology Network (CTN), launch its global start-up oriented programme first in Hong Kong with Cyberport.”

Cyberport is home to Hong Kong’s largest FinTech community, with almost 400 companies in-house. This programme will allow them to take advantage of Google Cloud for high performance computing, for example, in the use of quantitative analysis and risk modelling, leveraging Google Maps Platform APIs and geospatial data, designing apps in line with Google Play best practices, and even global expansion and promotion plan through the Google Marketing Platform.

Chosen FinTech startups innovating in disruptive technology and targeting international growth will also receive go-to-market, fundraising support and access to the wider FinTech community across the globe through startup founder networking events powered by Google.
