Adopt, don’t shop. Get ready to honour International Dog Day with the Hive, SPCA, and HKSCDA at these upcoming dog adoption events in Hong Kong.
As International Dog Day approaches on August 26th, 2023, Hong Kong gears up for heartwarming celebrations that not only honour our furry companions but also give them a shot at finding their forever homes. Two major dog adoption events, organised by the Hive in collaboration with the Hong Kong Save Cats and Dogs Association (HKSCDA) and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), are set to make this special day even more meaningful.
This Saturday, the Hive Sheung Wan is set to host International Dog Day: Adopt a Furry Friend! in collaboration with HKSCDA, from 1pm to 5pm. This event offers a chance for visitors to meet adorable canines and potentially welcome a new companion into their lives. To ease the transition from the event to home, successful adoptive parents will be able to enjoy 10% off from local PetTech startup and ride rental service Pews’ Ride.

The HKSCDA is a local nonprofit organisation that plays a pivotal role in rescuing and caring for stray cats and dogs. The association’s efforts include providing food, medical care, sterilisation, and adoption services for these animals. By collaborating with the Hive for this adoption event, they are furthering their mission to find permanent homes for these furry friends.
On the same day, the SPCA is also hosting an eagerly anticipated Dog Adoption Date event to coincide with International Dog Day from 2pm to 5pm at the SPCA Wanchai Centre. This event serves as a platform to connect rescue dogs with their potential forever human companions. Highlighting the need for adoption, it also sheds light on the lesser-known but equally deserving mongrels who are currently in foster care or other non-public areas due to the limited kennels at adoption centres.
SPCA’s dog adoption event aims to provide these “unseen” dogs a chance to meet prospective parents in person and find their loving homes. With over 100 dogs actively seeking their forever families, this occasion encourages dog lovers to consider adopting and giving these pups a new lease on life, echoing the sentiment, “Adopt, Don’t Shop.”

As Hong Kongers unite to celebrate International Dog Day, these two events offer a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of dogs in need. Stay tuned for even more heartwarming moments, the Hive Sai Kung and the SPCA plan to continue hosting monthly adoption events starting in September. This is a chance for the community to come together, spread compassion, and give these loyal companions the forever homes they deserve.
