The forthcoming TEDxTinHauWomen annual event in 2023, themed “Two Steps Forward,” is poised to inspire, motivate, stimulate, and encourage the audience in Hong Kong.
For 2023, TEDxTinHauWomen has chosen the theme ‘Two Steps Forward” for its yearly event. This theme symbolises the belief that every forward movement, no matter how small, holds the potential to unveil new pathways and lead to profound transformations. It aims to empower attendees to make decisions that shape their future with confidence and purpose.
Happening on November 14, 2023, the event will feature nine diverse speakers and embraces diversity and gender equality, welcoming male speakers for the first time. Each speaker will share unique stories and perspectives, igniting ideas that encourage attendees to take two vital steps forward.
Nine diverse speakers will grace the TEDxTinHauWomen stage, sharing inspiring insights. Dr. Laurena Law, a medical doctor who has worked in Hong Kong and Australia, will disuss using weight training to navigate ageing and menopause, while domestic worker and the Founder of Self Love Cupid, Eny Bawse, will advocate for domestic workers’ well-being.
Septime Webre, Hong Kong Ballet‘s Artistic Director, will explore ballet’s evolving role. Grace Cheng, the General Manager of the Fair Employment Agency, will delve into the joys of caregiving, and LGBT+ activist Henry Tse, and the Founder of Transgender Equality Hong Kong, will address transgender rights.
Jen Lam, the Artistic Director of Riceballer, will emphasise the power of storytelling, while Sacha Yasumoto, an accomplished interior designer, philanthropist, adventurer, and mother, will recount urban exploration adventures. Climate activist Natalie Chung will advocate climate action and intensifying extreme weather events, whilst Maaike Steinbach, the CEO of Visa Hong Kong & Macau, will address the gender health gap using FemTech.
In addition to these thought-provoking talks, the event will offer an interactive fair that brings together local entrepreneurs, innovative thinkers, and pioneers in Hong Kong. It goes beyond the traditional marketplace to create a vibrant space for creativity, entrepreneurship, and positive change. Women-owned or women-run start-ups and small businesses will have the opportunity to showcase their offerings.
