From November 10th to 14th, the 2021 Taiwan Creative Contest Fest will integrate transformative technology with immersive content exhibitions to create a Metaverse Playground.

Well known globally for its many tech innovations, Taiwan is no stranger to creative content experiences as well. Empowered by tech development and inspired by creative freedom, the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) is dedicated to supporting and optimising creative content applications and industries.

The 2021 Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF) will be held from November 10th to November 14th at Songshan Cultural and Creative Park. This year, TCCF curated the theme of “Metaverse Playground” in collaboration with international content festivals Ars Electronica and Kaohsiung Film Festival, and virtual reality cloud technology, to create 15 immersive projects and more than 30 thematic activities. An online exhibition has also been built in GOXR by XRSPACE to invite visitors to expand their Metaverse experience.

The Expo has tripled its space since the previous year’s TCCF, and is designed as a virtual playground. Visitors enter a “Wormhole,” and experience sections including “Avatar Galaxy,” “Magic Forest,” “Fun Backyard,” and “Octans Space,” featuring pioneering immersive works, the latest metaverse applications, several international premieres, and award-winning projects.

“Metaverse is the next incarnation of the virtual world,” says TAICCA CEO Izero Lee, “It will change our lifestyles from gaming, entertainment, education, work, and social behaviours. TAICCA continues to participate in international markets and festivals, organize exhibitions, support programs, and professional courses. Through policies and opportunities, cultural content producers and tech makers will stay competitive amid global market trends. The Expo will showcase leading immersive content from around the world to inspire groundbreaking ideas and imaginations for Taiwan’s content market.”

Austrian Ars Electronica will also present works under the title A New Digital Real, including The Substitute, reflecting on ecology with virtual rhino images, and All Watched Over By Machines Of Loving Grace, which explores our obsession with technology.

TAICCA has also launched a 5G VR Cloud programme to share future content applications with the public. In collaboration with the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Kaohsiung VR FILM LAB, and 10 Chunghwa Telecom stores, featuring 28 VR titles on-demand for viewers with VR headsets. This programme will be available from the start of the festival to February 10th, 2022.

The expo’s Fun Backyard focuses on how content can be applied across various industries through smart sensing technologies in traditional hand puppetry, AI music composition, dance recognition, 3D holograms, 4DViews volumetric capture technology, and virtual karaoke.
