After a three year hiatus, the annual Runway Asia fashion show returned to the Hive Singapore, drawing the local fashion and artistic community for a night of creative celebration.
Runway Asia, a leading platform for young designers and emerging creative talents successfully returned to the Hive Singapore on Friday, the 7th of October, 2022, for a live fashion show, marketplace, high quality entertainment, and artistic celebration. Bringing together Singapore’s creative scene, influencers, young driven design talents, glamorous model lineup, live performances, and notable sponsors, the Runway fashion show delivered a high energy night to remember.
Local sustainable designers Binary Style, Wray Crafted, and Dear Samfu opened up the show with colourful airy collections reminiscent of tropical vacations and eco-conscious fashion. With bold patterns and lively model walks, Binary Style transported the audience to luxury resort destinations whilst Wray Crafted delivered soft and airy looks with delicate accents. Dear Samfu brought contemporary patterns to traditional silhouettes through graceful and chic designs.
The fashion show’s impressive performance lineup of four acts included singers Zalelo and Rayhan Tee, and dance crews Limited Edition and KAYO, brightening up the stage with their flawless stage presence and vibrant talent.
The entire event and Runway Asia catwalk was accompanied with curated music by DJ FZPZ.
Luxury and leisure eco-conscious swimwear brand Mrs Deco walked next, including the Founder of the brand, Chantal Windley, wearing the brand’s newest release, the chic Mandisa One Piece featuring a beautiful gold pattern and modern design, waving a pink fan in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. JOANNALSM walked next displaying sharp geometric designs and dynamic patterns.
Mrs Deco & NEW DAWN by Pratyusha
Notable Singapore-based KOLs and influencers in attendance included Mathilda, Kimberley Yong, Runway Show Designer and the Founder of Mrs Deco, Chantal, Andreas Chua, the Founder, Choreographer, and Dancer at Limited Edition, Runway’s intermission dance group performance, Zalelo, Andrea Razali, one of Runway’s makeup artists, Ellie, Qatrisha Zairyah, Sahur Saleim, Melvin Ong, and Orchard Road Fashion.
ASTRA Tailoring & Sheila Tjandra
Next walked Hong Kong’s ASTRA Tailoring and young Singaporean designer Sheila Tjandra, followed by NEW DAWN by Pratyusha rounding up the show with a bold avant-guard collection. Japanese footwear label Haruta sponsored the shoes worn by models walking for ASTRA Tailoring and NEW DAWN by Pratyusha.
In minimalistic muted tones, ASTRA Tailoring’s cutting-edge designs awed the crowd with gender-blurring looks and fine tailoring echoing the future trends of fashion. Sheila Tjandra awed the audience with glistening beaded flowing gowns and airy looks that graced the runway with aqua-inspired detail and luminescent patterns. Pratyusha’s latest collection, NEW DAWN showcased futuristic silhouettes, sharp colours, and mesmerising craftsmanship.
