The Hive Thong Lor will be screening a selection of documentaries, indie movie, and independent movies as they have mixed the world of film and art for one evening every month. With its comfy seating and laidback vibe, this month’s film screening includes Amy, a documentary about the talented artist who passed away on July 2011. The film explores both her personal life and her life as a musician.

Amy is a 2015 British documentary film that depicts the life and death of British singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse, directed by Asif Kapadia and produced by James Gay-Rees, George Pank, and Paul Bell. It was co-produced by Krishwerkz Entertainment, On The Corner Films, Playmaker Films, and Universal Music, in association with Film 4. The film depicts Winehouse’s life largely from the standpoint of her struggle with substance abuse problems both before and after her career began to blossom, and which eventually caused her death.

As soon as the movie started, the audience went quiet as we learnt about Amy’s life.
