Art Basel Hong Kong 2022 is set to exhibit NFT and generative art featuring over 20 generative digital artists from May 27 till 29, in an NFT exhibition built on Tezos.
Art Basel Hong Kong 2022 is staying ahead of the game, bringing back its immersive approach to digital art once again, this time spotlighting non-fungible token (NFT) and generative art forms in Asia. Along with featuring upcoming, as well as pioneering Asian NFT artists, the exhibition will be hosted through the decentralised platform TZ APAC, a blockchain adoption platform innovating in the Tezos Ecosystem in the Asia Pacific region.
Named “NFTs + The Ever-Evolving World of Art,” the exhibition is to be unveiled from May 27 till May 29, 2022, at Art Basel Hong Kong, marking Tezos’ first large exhibition at Art Basel Hong Kong in a dedicated 250m² exhibition space.
Designed on the energy-efficient Tezos blockchain, the exhibition is set to transform the space between art, technology and culture. Together with the new digital frontier, Art Basel will spotlight the works of over 20 contemporary generative digital artists from around the world, highlighting each individual style and specialisation while envisaging the diversity, strength, and endless possibilities brought by NFTs.
Located at Hall 1A of Hong Kong’s Convention & Exhibition Centre, visitors can anticipate works from leading generative and NFT artists from Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, China, the Philippines, and South Korea, as well as North America and Europe.
Participation from various renowned artists includes award-winning Singaporean artist Yeo Shih Yun, whose work arrays an infusion of traditional Chinese ink painting with contemporary new mediums, Filipino painter and interdisciplinary artist Bjorn Calleja, and China’s Song Ting, the creator of the first-ever NFT artwork to be auctioned on China Guardian, alongside many other prominent names.
Furthermore, the exhibit will feature a novel interactive installation assembled in collaboration with FXhash, an NFT marketplace on Tezos. The immersive space allows individuals to interact with the installation and allow them to live-mint the spotlighted NFTs. Participants can unlock the unique artworks generated based on the algorithmic visions of the artists, namely Yazid Azahari, Sarah Ridgley, Marcelo Soria-Rodriguez, Ryan Bell, Jinyao Lin, Aluan Wang, Max Oshima (Lunarean), and Aleksandra Jovanić.
Katherine Ng, the Head of Marketing and Operations at TZ APAC, commented, “As the leading contemporary art fair in the world, it’s exciting to once again see the art community able to gather and celebrate the spirit of innovation in today’s art scene. NFTs have given these creators an unprecedented opportunity to reach new audiences, hone their craft, and make a name for themselves in an online forum, effectively rewriting the rulebook when it comes to the accessibility of the art world.”
Art Basel Hong Kong 2022 will additionally feature 130 local and international exhibitors. For those unable to visit the galleries, interested parties can join dedicated Online Viewing Rooms.
